Extract from Setting the Surface Free by Estrella de Diego published for the exhibition catalogue Charlotte Hodes: Pattern in Painting, City Museum and Art Gallery, Stoke-on-Trent, 1997

Hodes was Associate Artist at The Wallace Collection, London in 2006 and exhibited "Fragmented Images" in 2007. The exhibition included ceramics and paper cuts inspired by works in the Collection.

"Charlotte Hodes is that unusual thing, a truly innovative artist - one who, through tjose unfashionable attributes of persistance, skill and technique, has found a highly individual way of working. Winner of the 2006 Jerwood Drwaing Prize, and trained as a painter, she has ... created a synthesis between the fine and decorative arts, which has resulted in a body of work that is intelligent, original and highly decorative."

Sue Hubbard, The Independent, 30 May 2007
