TIM HARRISSON and ROSA LEE
12 July - 4 August 2007

The Eagle Gallery's July exhibition brings together two recent suites of works on paper by sculptor Tim Harrisson and painter Rosa Lee, which will be shown in conjunction with paintings and a Delabole slate sculpture.

Lee's sequence of blind embossed etchings, 'Some Random Thoughts on Disconnected Ideas' explore a range of organic, scrolled marks that are reminiscent of painted passages in the surfaces of her canvases. The images are achieved by passing the etching plates through the press a number of times and rely on subtle differences in the bite of the etched line in the white paper.

Harrisson's mixed media drawings on card also employ an element of recessed line to create the image. The drawings show various kinds of land strata from regions around the UK such as Holkham and the Nadder Vallery. Impressed into the surfaces of various coloured boards and overlaid with graphite or charcoal.

Tim Harrisson has shown his sculpture regularly since 1984 and had a solo exhibition at the New Arts Centre, Roche Court in 2001. He has worked on a number of large scale public commissions including works for Southampton Airport and City Centre and
Chatsworth Estate, Derbyshire.

Rosa Lee was a prizewinner in the 1989 John Moores 16 Liverpool exhibition and has shown
her paintings regularly in group and solo exhibitions since then. Her work is in a number of public collections including New Hall, Cambridge and the Contemporary Art Society and corporate collections include Glaxo Holdings, Pearl Assurance PLC and Unilever PLC.
