MEMORY’S IMAGES
7 October – 12 November 2010

Stephen Chambers, James Fisher, Harriet Mena Hill,
Maddy Rosenberg, Graeme Todd

Memory’s images, once they are fixed in words, are erased. (Italo Calvino: Invisible Cities)

Memory’s Images is an exhibition of imagined landscapes – created spaces in which the artists explore themes that range from dislocation and loss, to joyful reverie.
Drawn from the mind rather than the physical world the works reference traditions in painting from the Renaissance to the Romantic sublime, yet present an entirely contemporary vision of possible utopias and secular wastelands.

The exhibition includes paintings by Stephen Chambers and Graeme Todd with miniatures by Maddy Rosenberg, a recent suite of works on paper by James Fisher and a panelled ‘travelling altar’ by Harriet Mena Hill.
