VICTORY OVER THE SUN

[ezcol_1half]HARRY ADAMS

12 July – 9 August 2019

Artists Steve Lowe and Adam Wood work collaboratively as the persona of Harry Adams – exploring a vision of apocalyptic romanticism through ongoing series of paintings, prints and installations. Fusing visions of a bucolic English landscape with meditative forays into near abstraction, their work offers up material and formal beauty, alongside gleeful allusions to existential torment.

With the title taken from the crazed 1913 Futurist opera for which Kazimir Malevich made his first Black Square painting, the exhibition presents individual images that combine to form a narrative thread.

The show launches Sun Trap – an edition of 40 unique monotype silkscreen prints that will be offered for one night only at a pre-publication price of £250 plus VAT. Mounted onto panel (59 x 40cm) the images reiterate visual themes from paintings in the exhibition.
