New Publication:

Hormazd Narielwalla’s artist’s book Fear of the Flower celebrates queer male sexuality in a series of 36 ‘rose-bud’ images (reminiscent of Georgia O’Keeffe’s lush, sexualised blooms) painted over the pages of a vintage pattern manual.

Introduced with a text by Dr Michael Petry, the book explores the hidden codes through which desire is indicated or expressed.

Diamond Dolls

Diamond Dolls by Hormazd Narielwalla is an artist’s book in three volumes that celebrates the iconic figure of David Bowie. Co-published by Concentric Editions and EMH Arts, London, July 2021 in a limited edition of 300 signed and numbered copies.

A sequence of 36 collage images transform a running motif of Bowie’s ‘Ziggy Stardust’ persona. His form is decorated with highly elaborate costumes that extend the body into the realms of cubist sculptures.

Printed front and back on the folded pages of de-bossed leperello bindings, the book reveals the construction of the imagery, exposing the cut and pasted papers from which the diamond dolls are made.

A fabulous and stunning addition to the Bowie universe.
Dylan Jones OBE

Diamond Dolls is a stunning anthology of drawings, built up from discarded Saville Row brown tailoring patterns. Hormazd elevates these hollow outlined figures into ceremonious beauty and magic.

The Eagle Gallery commissions and co-publishes prints and bookworks across a wide range of media, from letterpress and etching, to screen and digital print. Publications often combine original elements of collage and monotype, with more traditional printmaking methods. Editions are kept small, reflecting a genuine sense of the ‘original’ print, and experimentation is encouraged.

The Gallery’s EMH Arts imprint is recognised internationally for the quality of our artists’ books, and over the last 25 years has commissioned established and emerging artists to work with writers including Mel Gooding, Andrew Renton, Antony Rudolf and Judith Thurman. EMH Arts publications are held in many major collections and have been exhibited in museum shows in China, Europe, Japan and the US.
